Our team is currently in the process of writing our manuscript for this project, therefore our GitHub repository is private. Below are some snippets of the code and the way in which we chose to approach the project.
The idea behind this project came from an observation that Black soccer players in the United Kingdom seemed to be portrayed very differently by the media than any other race. Our team decided to conduct an analysis on the verbiage used by six UK tabloids when reporting on Black verses non-Black Premier League soccer players.

Our first step was to use Feedly, an RSS feed reader, to grab article links that mentioned at least one Premier League player in their title from each of the six tabloids. We collected links from articles written in the past year.
Our next step was to create scraping functions to grab the title and text from each of the articles.

We then created scripts to run various types of analysis on the data, such as sentiment analysis and topic modeling.
We are currently in the process of analyzing our findings and drafting our manuscript as of December 2021. Once published, this page will be updated with the link to the manuscript.
